Are online CPR classes valid?
There are lots of
online CPR classes available on the internet. Unfortunately, many of
these are an internet scam. In order to receive a valid CPR
certification card, you need to be in a classroom with a certified CPR
instructor and practice on manikins. We have lots of students that pay
$40- $60 for an online CPR certification which is not valid and then
they have to pay to take a real CPR class all over again. In order to
receive an official American Heart Assocation CPR card, you must take
the online testing, then come in to our classroom to practice on the
CPR manikins.
We offer online American Heart Association online CPR training classes. eLearning Course (part online, part skill testing).
You will receive this card after your training:
This course is designed to review and evaluate the cardiopulmonary skills necessary to aid victims of all ages, foreign body airway obstructions, AED use, and airway ventilation with barrier devices. BLS-HCP is required for those who provide health care to patients in both the hospital and pre-hospital environments. This class is for both renewals or first time students. After this course students will receive the American Heart Association BLS HCP CPR certification card valid for two years.
The Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Online CPR Course offers a flexible training option for busy healthcare professionals who would like to either renew their healthcare provider card or for the first-time user who would like to initially certify for CPR. American Heart Association has been providing eLearning for over 5 years and has trained hundreds of thousands of people in CPR with this system. You can take the tests and do the reading at your home or workplace. Then you print out the online CPR certificate and come to our office for the skills testing which takes about 30 minutes. This CPR certification card is the exact same card as if you took the 4.5 hour class.

This three-part delivery effectively blends cognitive learning with skills training. Students are not able to experience the delivery of physical skills from a PC, so eLearning is only as effective as the skills training provided.
For successful course completion, AHA requires that eLearning courses with psychomotor skills include:
